Types Of Air Filters
Experts argue that the rise in the number of people with respiratory allergies is specifically related to the quality of the air they breathe. Consequently there is an interest in purifying the air and filtering out harmful elements. Air filters clean the air we breathe in indoor environments by filtering out dust and other particles along with gases and smells. They are one weapon in the fight against allergies such as asthma. There are four main types of air filters, these are, mechanical filters, electronic filters, gas and hybrid filters, there are also ozone air filters.
Generally speaking both the American Lung Association and the US Environmental Protection Agency recommend the use of air filters in the home. Air quality problems exist in almost every home, to the extent where the air is often dirtier inside than it is outside. A centralized filtration system will help to clear the air according to your specific needs.
Mechanical filters have a special screen which is used to trap irritants such as dust, smoke and pet danda. Clean air is then forced through the screen. You can get a high efficiency mechanical model which is also known as a HEPA filter. Electronic filters use a fan to trap irritants with electrostatic precipitators. These filters use electronic charges to attract the pollutants that are in the air. Gas filters on the other hand, do not remove this type of allergen from your home. Gas filters are specifically designed to remove odors and air pollutants such as gas and paint fumes.
