Radon Detectors
There are many pollutants that invade not only our outer, but our inner environment. Our homes can be places where out health is most at risk, a mixture of dust, pet danda, cigarette smoke and fumes from cleaners make our homes an environmental hazard. There has been considerable debate on this and as a result many people are now buying indoor air quality monitors.
One pollutant that invades our homes and which most of us may know little or nothing about is radon. Radon is a radioactive gas that gets into our homes through cracks in the foundation. It is a toxic gas which comes from radium that has decomposed in the soil and which then moves into the air. Most of us just don’t know it is there and we need a radon detector so that we can neutralize its effects.
Radon detectors are devices which can be plugged in, usually in the basement or cellar of your home. Passive kits can act as a radon gas detector. You can get short or long term models and these kits will give you an idea of the gas levels in your home within a few days. It is quite a good detector of gas. Radon is highly toxic and is judged to be a cause of cancer.
